Mattel’s attempt at the Zero Year Batman Design isn’t quite up to par as the DC Collectibles version. The sculpt and plastic quality is good but the articulation system is much to be desired. Priced at about $20 (Target).

Today’s Arrivals: Turbo Beyond
21 09 2014A couple of cool surprises thanks to good buddies of mine.
First up, the Total Heroes Ultra Series Batman Beyond from Mattycollector.com. Includes alternate heads of Terry and Bruce along with cool add-ons and a little Atom figure.
The much sough after Bandai Super Megaforce Red Turbo Ranger figure finally joins my collection. One of my favorite designs for Red Ranger.

Adventures in Toy Shopping: TF4 Day and Big Wow in San Jose
17 05 2014Today marks the official retail release date of the Transformers Age of Extinction movie toys. Earlier in the week, I took advantage of Amazon’s buy 1 get 1 for 30% off when they sold their stock online last Monday. Apparently Monday was referred to Cybertron Monday – the official online release date for the movie figures. I was able to get the Scorn and Slug through that deal and today I hopped over to Toysrus and used my $5 off coupon and picked leader class Optimus Prime. I honestly like the design of these toys.
After learning Takara Tomy was doing a more movie accurate colored Optimus with more silver paint apps but selling for $80, I decided to take time to add some more silver paint to my US version Optimus myself. Using Tamiya Acrylic paint, I painted parts of the arms, chest, head, and fully painted thighs and feet.
The annual Big Wow Comic Convention hit San Jose, CA this weekend. It’s more fan friendly convention for better interaction with comic creators. Relatively a small show but there was a descent seller presence. I was able to track down a very cool Evil Lyn from the 2000’s MOTU as well as TF Generations Scourage. Also snagged the DC Collectibles Designer Series Nightwing based off the art designs of Greg Capullo.
The real bargain I found was an Ultra-Act Ultraman Tiga Sky Mode figure for $20.

Today’s Arrival: Mattel Batman Unlimited Batman Arkham Origins
22 10 2013Finally figures of the Batman Unlimited series from Mattel is starting to hit shelves just time before the video releases this Friday (10/25/2013). The Arkham origins Batman comes in the same style packaging as previous figures.
The figure is an amazing sculpt. The armor is well done. His cape is nice and wide, perfect for action poses.
Taking a closer look, his head sculpt is very good. Batman hasn’t shaved in a bit if you look close enough.
His pose-ability isn’t that great. Nice bicep swivel, not enough elbow bending range, no ab crunch , and lack of ankle rocking hurt this figure.
Still, I like how this figure turned out. $15.99 (Target)
