R273 Kotobukiya Marvel Bishoujo Kitty Pryde PVC Statue Review

13 07 2013

One of the X-Men’s most popular characters is Kitty Pryde. A mutant with the ability to become intangible and phase her body through solid material, this spunky mutant has gotten herself in and out of trouble over the years. This PVC statue based off the artwork of Shunya Yamashita has Kitty in anime-style design. With her trust dragon Lockeed, Kitty strikes an energetic pose and is ready to be displayed on any collector’s shelf. Priced at $59.99 (http://www.kotous.com)

Adventures in Toy Shopping: Target Shopping

29 05 2013

I thankfully work next to Target store so every now and then during the week I can easily stop by and browse the toy aisle. Target put their mini Man of Steel movie display and I spotted the only Movie Master Superman figure ($15.99).

The blister card packaging isn’t anything special but Superman is nicely posed within. Really excited to see the movie.

Mattel Man of Steel Movie Master Superman 01

He includes a Superman Logo display stand that’s very textured.

The most apparent thing about the figure is that his entire suit is textured. Not loving the fact the S Logo is textured…it feels weird.

He scales equally to other Mattel figures such as the DC Unlimited New 52 version of Superman.

And he scales equally with Movie Master Dark Knight Batman.

Also spotted a cool Hasbro Marvel Universe Uncanny X-Men 3-pack featuring Wolverine, Longshot, and Rogue. You also get a non-poseable Baby Cyclops.

Adventures in Toy Shopping: Hasbro Marvel Universe She-Hulk

12 10 2012

It’s rare for me these days to collect Hasbro’s Marvel Universe 3.75″ action figure line these days. I decided to stay clear of that scale because 6″ is just better in my opinion. Plus I’m running out of shelf space.

I was at my local comic shop browsing around and She-Hulk caught my eye. She’s sports her current design, nice sculpt, paint apps were descent, and good packaging design not to mention she’s a fan favorite of mine. I was hesitant to buy her because she was priced at $12.99 but I had to consider the time and gas I’d waste trying to find her at retail stores like Toysrus or Target. So I caved and picked her up.

11/12/2012: Was at my local Target and saw this figure on sale for $7.99. Finally, I can pick another of her and open her up. 1st thing you get as an extra is this tiny card shot of a She-Hulk comic. Honestly, this is pretty pointless to have. I really wish for a display stand.

Out of package, She-Hulk is pretty impressive. Areas of dark shading is painted in to give off that pro-artist feel. Not clean but descent enough. The purple used on her is metallic…very cool. She has a very unique, non-reused mold which makes me happy. Articulation is awesome. You get all the typical points but I’m loving the double-jointed elbows and knees. Thigh swivel is also a nice touch.

Close up, She-Hulk has pretty developed muscles for that body builder look. Curvy!

Her head sculpt is the best female sculpt I’ve seen the Marvel Universe line. The facial and hair sculpting rock.

Adventures in Toy Shopping: Return of Marvel Legends Dark Wolverine (Daken)

12 10 2012

I thought I’d never find this version of Dark Wolverine in stores but I happen to stumble upon the masked version at Target this morning. He sports a much leaner body compared the SDCC X-Force Wolverine which is awesome. Check it out.

San Diego Comic-Con 2012: My Haul

18 07 2012

Finally returned from San Diego Comic-Con 2012. Long tiring 5-Day event but I was able to secure some very cool exclusives along with other things I’ve been putting off. First the exclusives.

For my sister I picked up the Toynami Exclusive Hello Kitty Chun Li Edition.

Kotobukiya Exclusive Marvel Bishoujo X-23 (X-Force Edition). This is the one fans wanted cause she’s sporting the angry face.

Hasbro Exclusive Marvel Legends X-Force 3-Pack (Archangel, Psylocke, Wolverine)

Finally after so many Comic-Cons, I finally got a exclusive Comic-Con Shirt. Also found a cool Capsule Corp logo from Stylin Online.

BlueFin’s Exclusive S.H. Figuarts Super Saiyan Son Gohan (Special Color Edition)

Wasn’t planning on getting these until a friend called me while she was in line at the Hasbro booth. These are the exclusive G.I. Joe Jinx action figures.

Now for the other stuff I’ve been waiting to buy in person just never got around to do it.

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Ryuki and Knight

Square Enix Play Arts Kai Super Street Fighter 4 Cammy

Bandai S.H. Figuarts Akiba Red

Bandai S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Nadeshiko

Bandai Gundam Seed HG 1/144 M1 Astray

And to my surprise, the new TMNT figures for the new Nick Animated series was being sold by a few dealers. Had to get Raphael.

That’s the Haul. Gonna need a few days to rest before I work on video reviews. Stay tuned!

San Diego Comic-Con 2012 Want List

9 06 2012

In about a month from now, I’ll be down in San Diego once again for Comic-Con. It’s a crazy weekend of constant standing or walking around for conventions exclusives. I’ll have to remember to wear very comfortable shoes. For once I’m not too worried about getting what I want this year. The big dealers: Hasbro and Mattel, have always posted the majority of their exclusives to their online stores days after the Con for the public to buy at convention prices. The smaller companies are the more important to visit at the Con.

I went through the entire list of SDCC 2012 exclusives and my want list that I really need to pick up at the Con is pretty small (Thank God).

Kotobukiya DC Comics Huntress Bishoujo Statue. Not exactly sure if this is a SDCC exclusive but a few online sources report that she is. She’ll be the first figure I pick up.

Hasbro Marvel Legends Uncanny X-Force (Archangel, Psylocke, Wolverine). How bad ass is this box set? Features 3 awesome characters in my favorite versions of their costumes. Don’t want to gamble on this one being sold online after the Con so I’ll hunting this down while I’m attending.

Bandai S.H. Figuarts Supar Saiyan Gohan Special Color Edition. I already own the 1st version which has a much low key, manga style color palette. You figure I’d be very happy about just staying with that version but come on…I’m a diehard DBZ Fan. The Special Color Edition will have more saturated colors and resemble the anime palette more so there’s a good chance I’ll be picking this version.

Hasbro G.I. Joe Jinx. I love me some G.I. Joe ninjas. Jinx will have 2 different versions available: a classic red and a movie version. I’d like to get this at the Con but I’m OK with pass on her and buying her at http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com

For now that’s my want list. Chances are I will buy other toys while I’m there that aren’t exclusives.

And of course, there’s a good chance I’ll be doing video reviews on them too.
